Meet the Team
Becky Kingston is the Vice President of Corporate Travel for Travel Edge and as such oversees the acquisition, implementation and servicing of Travel Edge's corporate clients.
Prior to merging with Traveledge in 2009, Becky was the President and owner of On The Go Travel which she ran for 16 years. She gained her management experience by working with Xerox Corporation for 15 years in marketing and management.
Becky enjoys all aspects of managing the corporate travel department for Travel Edge. After working for a Fortune 500 company for many years, she found running her own business challenging and exhilarating. There is never a dull moment in the travel industry! Her greatest pleasure is working with her team to satisfy client’s needs and grow the business.
In her spare time, Becky enjoys walking, yoga, reading and of course traveling! Her latest trips were to St. Petersburg, Tahiti, Morocco and Tuscany. Becky lives in Newport Beach with her husband George and her two puppy dogs, Sam and Luke.
Michael F. Serle
Director of Sales
With more than 6 years tenure at Travel Edge, Mike has a combined total of 34 years of travel industry experience; primarily in B2B Sales and Marketing. Prior to Travel Edge, Mike focused on large market corporate sales at American Express, Boeing and Carlson Companies directed towards C-Suite executives and administrators.
Mike has extensive experience in travel management consulting, integration of online travel and expense processing systems, ROI analysis, management reporting systems and workflow enhancements.
Since Travel Edge offers corporate clients a unique opportunity to control spend arising from both traditional point-to-point business travel and the coordination of company meetings and events, Mike’s experience with special events promotions and marketing are a huge advantage to Travel Edge clients.
Mike’s educational background includes a finance and marketing degree from Philadelphia University as well as ongoing operational, sales and marketing training in the travel industry.
Mike believes in accountability and results and is known for accurate and rapid follow up to client needs. Mike is very involved with daughter’s school and church, can fix almost anything, and loves to restore classic British motorcycles.
Denise Bernier is currently Manager, Client Services of Corporate Travel for Travel Edge serving as the primary liaison between large, medium and small corporate accounts, Travel Edge and suppliers. Denise negotiates contracts with vendors and has established excellent relationships optimizing negotiations. Denise also optimizes client management programs, monitors savings opportunities, cost avoidance and spend management. She ensures accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of travel data along with identifying savings opportunities for clients through extensive industry knowledge. She maintains a high level of knowledge about travel products, technology and client needs allowing her to effectively develop, modify and execute company travel policies and procedures. Denise stays actively involved in industry networking which allows her to cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships.
After spending 12 years as a Travel Manager for a midsized technology company, she knows the importance of delivering excellent customer service and optimizing customer care processes. She enjoys managing the entire customer experience which requires visibility, insight and the ability to take quick action on issues impacting a customer.
Denise, mother of 3, is a USTA ranked tennis enthusiast, enjoys playing piano, traveling the world and fly fishing with her husband Bob.
With more than 30 years of travel industry experience including long-term positions with Carlson Wagonlit Travel and Travel Leaders, Kathy Boyken manages and oversees the reservation protocol for Travel Edge call center consultants; including on-site locations.
Kathy’s responsibilities include staff development, the implementation and maintenance of both the Concur and DEEM online booking platforms, quality control systems and their integration with the Sabre reservation platform.
Kathy’s is a very detailed and process driven individual. Her goal is to build a strong, client-focused team that utilizes the latest technology to enhance the traveler experience.
Kathy is a mother of two boys, is native to San Diego and lives there with husband Mike and puppy.
VP, Meetings & Events
Julia currently leads the Meetings and Events division of Travel Edge for both Canada and the U.S. Prior to joining the Travel Edge team, Julia successfully ran her own event management agency. In her previous roles, she was the Executive Director at the Wynford Group and Vice President, Planning/Operations at Vision Group of Companies.
Julia’s ability to build and maintain relationships on all levels as well as her proven track record have given her instant credibility in the industry. Through her creative and innovative approach to projects and goals, she has helped organizations achieve their business objectives successfully. She is an active, hands on, energetic leader with proven results. A world traveler, Julia is passionate about destinations and has developed a wealth of destination knowledge and strong supplier relationships throughout her career.
